The night is young, so are we
Let's just get to know each other, slow and easily, oh
Take my hand, let's hit the floor
Shake our bodies to the music
Maybe then you'll score
We Don’t Have to Take Our Clothes Off, Jermaine Stewart
There was a point in my life where I knew only a handful of folks who identified as aromantic and/or asexual. Then overnight dozens of family members, friends, crushes, and strangers on the internet were coming out and living their authentic selves. It coincided (I think) with the publication of books about aro/ace folks and a social media push for visibility and legitimization. When Being Ace: An Anthology of Queer, Trans, Femme, and Disabled Stories of Asexual Love and Connection was announced a year ago I knew right away I wanted it as a part of the Queerthology canon. The time is now!

Discover the infinite realms of asexual love across sci-fi, fantasy, and contemporary stories
This diverse asexual anthology highlights the ace spectrum experience in a collection of 15 unique stories, flash fiction, and poetry.
A disabled vigilante trying to save her kidnapped girlfriend, a little mermaid who loves her sisters more than suitors, a slayer whose virgin blood keeps attracting monsters and more, the works in Being Ace are anything but conventional. Whether in psychiatric hospitals, space ships, haunted cemeteries, or under the sea, no two aces are the same in 15 unique works that highlight asexual romance, aromantic love, and the many other sub-identities of the asexual spectrum umbrella. “Being Ace is an essential YA anthology. It’s a perfect palette that paints the richness of asexuality, in all its many shades and hues. This is the first anthology I’ve read that really gets what it means to be authentically, honestly ace. Fantastic!” -Saundra Mitchell, bestselling editor of All Out, Out Now and Out There
